Engaging Artists in Science
daVinci Art Science Roundtable
The daVinci art science roundtables are a facilitated monthly series of exploratory discussions for artists and scientists to talk about the culture of their two fields and how they might collaborate more meaningfully. Ultimately, the discussions also explore how collaborations intersect with public understanding of science. The roundtables began with the basic assumptions that discussion between the artists and scientists had the potential to create new knowledge and ideas that would be of interest to the participants and eventually to the public as well. How do we break down the artificial barriers between art and science? Can true collaboration lead to a greater understanding of the world around us? We will explore the ways we can engage artists with the sciences by a look at the EOS Journal Article on the recent rejection of the separation and ways scientists are engaging with artists in exciting new collaborations. Join us for this free event on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 1pm to 2pm EST.

We will explore the Gaia Hypothesis through a revisit of the landmark book by James Lovelock and a recent article updating the premises put forward in the 1970’s. What does this mean for life on Earth during our present-day challenges and for the quest for extraterrestrial life in the Universe?
