Solace: Finding Peace in Nature During a Global Pandemic

Show #193

Talking about the new film “Solace”. The objective of Solace is to maintain the momentum of interest in and support for our natural areas brought about by the need to have a safe place to destress or connect with people. And by proactively securing long-term protection for these areas, we, in turn, will improve our own health and safeguard these restorative places for future generations. How did the global pandemic encourage artists to develop new works of art.

Show #189

Talking about Wayne Strattman’s work encompassing over 30 years of innovation in lighted glass plasma technology, as an artist, designer, researcher, teacher, advocate and author. “Essentially what I do is take electricity and turn it into light using glass as the medium” Wayne combines his background training in engineering with his love of sculpture and interest in the history of electricity—specifically those technologies using glass—Wayne not only taught himself the field without any formal glass training but also proceeded to pioneer many new techniques now intrinsic to his medium. We will explore his newest exhibit “Pure Effects” at the Sandwich Glass Museum in Sandwich, MA.
