It’s Never Been Done Before: Developing an Immune System for the Planet

Show #206

Dr. Bray carries out research to solve big, real-world problems using technology. It’s not just big problems that Bray is interested in solving; it’s the near-impossible ones. “You tell me it’s never been done before, you tell me it’s impossible and I’m like, ‘okay, that’s what I want!’’ Like preventing pandemics? As Principal at LeadDoAdapt Ventures, Dr. Bray’s passions include shaping the Future of Data, Bio, and Space and providing strategic direction, advice, and leadership to organizations confronting turbulent environments. He accepted a role of Co-Chair for 2016-2017 with an IEEE Committee focused on Artificial Intelligence, automated systems, and innovative policies globally and has been serving as a Visiting Executive In-Residence at Harvard University since 2015 and as a Faculty Member giving talks on Impact and Disruption at Singularity University since 2017. Time Lapse Imagery: Capturing Time in the Camera

Show #205

Talking about Time-lapse photography: a technique in which the frequency at which frames are captured is much lower than the frequency used to view the sequence. When played at normal speed, time appears to be moving faster and thus lapsing. Processes that would normally appear subtle and slow to the human eye, such as the motion of the sun and stars in the sky or the growth of a plant, become very pronounced. Over the years Shiv has earned numerous awards and recognition both nationally and internationally. Shiv devotes a great deal of his time to reviewing photography related products. He also conducts photo tours and workshops worldwide.

Space within A Space: How Does Museum Architecture Enhance the Museum Experience Inside the Building?

Show #204

When talking about museum architecture, the word “architecture” is taken for granted. Architecture is a general and begs the question as to what is museum architecture and its role in not only the preservation of the objects inside but as a work of art itself? The process of design and architecture are more like the processes of aspiration and creation. Structures and spaces have human ideas inside, and they represent human perceptions and creativity in of themselves, sometimes to enhance what is inside but also as art in and of itself. What can we learn from the study of museum architecture and how might it change our overall museum experience?

Guests

Sis (Eleanor) Hight is Professor Emerita of Art History at the University of New Hampshire; Len Sussman earned his AB from Harvard and M.Arch from Yale, then practiced commercial and residential architecture in New England for 40 years.
